On September 16th and 17th, ETFI organized her European Research Network Meeting in Brussels, which lasted for two days. The meeting was located at the Neth-ER building, a bureau that actively represents the Netherlands for EU-subsidies in the higher education.

Participants
The first day of the network meeting was about sharing information, but first new participants and universities were welcomed (University of Latvia and West Coast University of Applied Sciences in Germany). Over thirty participants of research centers and universities from all over Europe joined this meeting. The plenary meeting was led by Dr. Jeroen Oskam, Program manager of ETFI. He announced that since the formation of the network, the collaboration between and with all partners formed a good basis for the future in the field of research activities for tourism and recreation in the EU.

Workshop
An interactive workshop was scheduled for the second day, which was led by Ernesto Spruyt of Freekick Strategy. In small groups the possible scenarios were researched around the theme “Hotel of the Future”. The results will be used for a research project towards the sustainability in the tourism branch, which is conducted by i.a. Ernesto Spruyt and Albert Postma. After the lunch everybody said their goodbyes, with the expectation that the meeting in 2014 will be at least as successful as this meeting was experienced.
